🎥 Movie Night
7pm - 8:30pm
Please bring your family to enjoy a movie night, which is a free event that Earhart PTA sponsors to help build community at our school. There will be free popcorn and water. Please plan on bringing your own blanket or towel so that your child can comfortably watch the movie while seated on the floor, as we will have limited chairs.
This is a family event, children must be accompanied by an adult. See you at the movie! A special thank you to Melinda Quilici & her crew!
2017 DI Global Fundraising
Congratulations to the students advancing to Global Finals: Alexandra G., Owen, Alexandra M., Mashood, Emma, and Jimena.
DI is a creative problem-solving competition in which student teams create a solution to a technical, scientific, service learning, or artistic/fine arts challenge. They present their team solution in an 8-minute skit that follows specific parameters. The competition is fierce, but Earhart DI teams have been preparing since September, meeting after school and on the weekends, and they are ready to showcase their work.
The students must raise funds to pay for their registration fees, airfare and ground transportation, and food and accommodations in Tennessee. With only a few weeks to go until Globals, the pressure is on. We're planning many community fundraisers to cover the trip costs. Thank you for supporting these young, creative minds--the next generation of innovators and leaders!Fund DI Now!

🌎 Earhart Earth Month - Ocean Guardian School
Saturday, April 22: Earhart Day March for Science in San Francisco [more details TBA]
Thursday, April 27, 8pm - 10pm: Astronomy Night [if weather permitted]
Our incredibly fabulous science teacher, Ms. Nettles, has decided that it’s not enough to have earth week at Earhart...we need earth month! Ms. Nettles dedicates tireless hours developing fun ways for children to learn about our planet.
Our Kindergarten classes are gardening and observing tadpoles. The First and Second graders will walk to Alameda’s shoreline bird sanctuary to learn about migratory birds and their place in our environment.
Our gardening Third grade classes will run a mile and get reusable water bottles afterward, encouraging them to avoid single-use-plastic beverage containers. The stainless steel bottles were purchased with a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a part of our Ocean Guardian Program.
Our Fourth graders will visit Waste Management’s Davis Street Field Transfer Station to see where our trash ends up. They have been studying the ecology of the ocean and are eager to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in it through the SF Bay.
Our Fifth graders are studying the trophic pyramid in the bay mud from our local estuary. They are happy to report that this year’s mud looks healthy and full of life, which is a contrast from previous years due to drought.
For Campus Clean Up, we will plant a tree, pull weeds & more. Please bring gloves if you want them.
For Astronomy Night, East Bay Astronomical Society volunteers will share their fantastic scopes. Please dress accordingly for this dark, cold event.
To all Earhart families, as a thank you for all of your support in reaching our Spell-a-thon Goal! We had a Community Coffee after Morning Ceremony. Our kindergarten parents had a perfect time to check out the morning routine for 1st-5th graders. Earhart families stopped by the M/U room grab a coffee & said hello.
Thank you again for the Spell-a-thon success!
Also a special thank you to the McBride family for preparing the coffee & tea, and baking the tasty treats!
School Site Council Opening
School Site Council is an advisory and informational parent group who support the school improvement process at Earhart School. School Site Council meets once a month for about an hour. The council is comprised of equal numbers of parents and school/teacher representatives. If you are interesting in joining school site council, there is currently a parent position vacancy. Once we have identified interested parents, according to the by-laws we will elect a parent to fill the opening. Please contact Mrs. Dean or leave a message in the office if you are interested.
🐝 Spell-a-Thon 2017
Earhart Families - We did it!!! Spell-at-hon raised over $40,000. Thank you to everyone who sent in pledges. We had our greatest rate of participation ever. Many classes reached 100% and most classes had all but 1 or 2 families participate. To celebrate, we had a Popsicle dance party on Friday before Spring break.
Thank you to our teachers for supporting this fundraiser and thank you to the PTA volunteers who devoted their time to make Spell-a-thon a success. Also, a special thank you to Tamyra Burgain, a new parent at Earhart, who totally jumped in and made the on-campus activities fun for the kids.
